Greetings fellow adventurers! We hope your New Year has been filled with exciting and perilous games. During the holidays, the Adventurer’s Codex team spent some much needed time with friends and family, but hit the ground running in the New Year. We are excited to show off some of the new enhancements in this release. Behind the scenes we’re ramping up to bring you some awesome features in the coming releases, but in the mean time, we’re thrilled to announce some significant improvements to the Player and DM tools.

Players

Our goal is to help keep combat and role-play flowing without interruption. We hope to help that happen with these following enhancements.

Features, Feats, Traits, Proficiencies, and Languages

This improvement has been a long time coming, and they’re finally here. Adventurer’s Codex now provides auto-complete for all Features, Feats, Traits, Proficiencies, and Languages available in the SRD.

Note: These new additions remove the old textareas in which Features, Feats, and Traits would be added to. Don't worry, your old Features, Feats, and Traits have not been deleted. The data has been migrated for you and added to the corresponding section named Archived.

Tracking Features, Feats, and Traits

Various Features, Feats, and Traits are able to be used every day, like a Dragonborn’s Breath Weapon. In previous versions, you’d have to add a record to the Tracker in the Skills tab and add its other details to the Features text box. Now, you can add a new Feature, Feat, or Trait and assign it to be tracked. Once the new item is saved, a new record will be created for you in the Tracker.

Always Prepared Spells

Spells can now be marked as “Always Prepared”, which makes them not count against your total amount of Spells you can use that day! They are distinguished in the UI by a faded checkbox.

Popover Calculations

Ever wonder how we calculate your Proficiency Bonus? Well, you don’t have to wonder any longer! We have added Popovers to some items that we calculate in the background. You can find these Popovers in Proficiency Bonus, Initiative, and Armor Class. Let us know what else you’d like to see in a Popover!

Passive Scores

All Skills result in a passive score for your character, like Passive Wisdom. We have added a new column to the Skills which displays your character’s passive score in a particular Skill.

The formula used for these passive scores is the following:
10 + Ability Score Modifier + Proficiency Bonus + Skill Bonus

Other Player Improvements

Here are some more goodies we worked on:

  • UI Improvements for various device sizes
  • Added new, shiny notifications for Short and Long Rest messages
  • Armor Class is now calculated based on your current Armor
  • Fixed various nasty bugs
  • Updated codebase to be more consistent

Dungeon Masters

We know that, as a DM, there are thousands of things to keep track of at once, and sometimes it’s hard to keep everything in your head. These improvements are aimed at alleiviating this burden.

DM Screen

Ever needed to know how much distance a group will cover while moving fast? Turns out, it’s 400 feet per minute. We’ve added a new tab for a DM Screen, which contains tons of helpful information for you to reference.

Monsters

We know you’ve been looking for this enhancement; auto-complete for Monsters. All SRD Monsters will now auto-complete their full Stats, Skills, and Scores before your very finger tips.
