Greetings adventurers! We’re back with another long-awaited update. We know things have been quiet around here for some time, but we’ve still got a lot in the pipeline for you all, starting with this update here. Today we’ve got Sharable Campaigns, Sharing improvements, and a new DM preview with lots more in the works!

Sharable Campaigns

Years ago we introduced the ability for players to share their character sheets and the next logical step was to implement the same feature for DMs wanting to share their campaigns!

To share your campaign, simply click the share button at the top of the app and create a new link! Simply copy the link and send it to whoever you want! Like with character share-sheets, the sharable version of your campaign is publicly available so you can share it privately to friends, or link to it on a public website.

Now as DMs, we know there’s really two reasons why you’d want to share your campaign and we’ve kept both of these reasons in mind, so let’s dive into the new sharing features we’ve built in to this release.

Campaign Sharing Modes

A screenshot of the share settings

A new gear icon, beside the copy shareable link button, reveals a set of new settings available to patrons of Adventurer’s Codex. By default, campaigns are shared in what we’ve called DM Mode. This means that all the content of your campaign is shared, including the private notes and encounter details. This mode is designed for those of you wishing to make and share your campaigns with others in their full glory.

However, we’ve also designed a second share mode that we’ve called Player Mode which allows DMs to share a subset of their campaign in a manner suitable for players to use as a reference for past adventures. Only completed encounters are shown in this mode and only certain subsets of the data is available on the share sheet. We hope this mode will allow DMs to leverage their hard work to remind their players of the events of their campaign and give the party a common reference for past events.

By default, all users can share campaigns in DM Mode but if you want to use the new Player Mode, you must be a paid patron of Adventurer’s Codex at any level.

We’ve got lots of awesome stuff planned for these new share sheets and we think you’re all really going to like it.

Sharing Previews

We know that lots of groups use our Party Tools and we want to make sure users are getting the best out of them. Today we’re extending the functionality with the ability for DMs to preview know what parts of their data will be shared in the exhibit or the share sheet before they make it available to players.

A look at the encounter-item preview

That’s why we’ve added a new button in the various sections of the Encounters module that allow DMs to preview how the Point of Interest, Monster, NPC, etc will look when viewed either through the Exhibit or in the Player Mode share sheet.
